Pikachu to lead Japan into the Soccer World Cup

Japan has named their official mascot for the summer’s World Cup in Brazil and it’s everyone’s favourite electric mouse Pikachu!

The figurehead of the hugely-successful Pokemon video game franchise has now made the move in partnership with Adidas to become the official apparel sponsor of the Japanese football team, an agreement has been made for Pikachu and 10 of his buddies to lead ‘The Blue Samurai’ into action in South America!

Joining Pikachu will be four other characters many would stand a chance of recognising, Meowth, Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle all fan favourites from the original Red and Blue games as well as the Kanto region. In addition, six pokemon from the Kalos region will also be taking part in the promotional campaign, Chespin, Fennekin, Froakie, Pancham, Helioptile, and Litleo. Will this team of powerhouse Pokémon provide the spark Japan needs to “shock” the world, only time will tell!
